Have any of you had their stainless fuel tank start leaking and have to take it out? I am planning to use the spinnaker halyard to lift it out and then drop it through the port tramp after unlacing it. Open to any suggestions.

There is a stainless welder next to the yard I am at, and he can come to me to fix, so that won't be an issue, and probably after 10 years the inside could use a good cleaning.

Instead of going thru the trouble of unlacing the tramp, can you swing it on the halyard over the side? I've done this to offload sails, etc. with success.

Good Luck!

Just a quick update, the tank came out and in just fine rigging up several lines using the gennaker halyard and the main halyard along with the windlass and the port electric winch. It is great being in Mexico, I got two helpers to assist me with the tank, had it pressure tested, a small weld all for $70 US. The job in and out was about 1 hour each way and that includes taking all hoses off and reconnecting.
