Hi,
You will have heard on the news about the heatwave currently gripping western Russia, and the subsequent fires sending smoke into Moscow.
Thought you might like to see the satellite picture here, showing the vast area covered by the smoke and fires.

The bad news for Russia is that the high pressure brings the warmth, and also the winds to fan the fires, look set to stay over the area for at least the next 7 to 10 days (see http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/expertcharts?LANG=en&MENU=0000000000&CONT=euro&MODELL=gfs&MODELLTYP=1&BASE=-&VAR=pslv&HH=60&ZOOM=1&ARCHIV=0&PANEL=4&LOOP=0&INFO=0&WMO=)
As an aside I have now added the pressure and wind forecast charts in 3-hour steps out to 5-days ahead to SWIS (http://www.sailingweather.co.uk). These are updated twice daily and today’s SWIS forecasts and charts are available to view now.
Best wishes,
Simon
