Hello,

Thanks to all of you who have registered and become members of my new SWIS service. It's safe to say that take up has been beyond my greatest expectations, so 'thank you'. If you haven't joined SWIS, now is your chance to get a free 14-day trial. I want the service to be much more than just another weather forecast site.

To register go to http://www.sailingweather.co.uk and don't forget you can receive forecasts by email and your mobile telephone as well as on the internet.

For the past week I have been highlighting the strength of the winds expected in the Channel and eastern coasts this weekend, and have just updated the latest video detailing this. The videos are only available to SWIS members, so now is the time to become a member. If your free trial has expired, why not upgrade to Silver or Gold membership by logging onto your account?

Onto Weather School matters and I have announce the data for the autumn Schools. Sailing Weather (Part 1) will be held on Sunday 16th October 2011, and Sailing Weather (Part 2) will be held on Saturday 5th November 2011. For more information and full details of the course, see http://www.weatherschool.co.uk.

Now on with the weekend forecast, and any friends or colleagues who want to receive this forecast can do so by emailing sailingweather-subscribe@weatherweb.net

Have a great weekend,

Best wishes,
Simon

High pressure ridges from off the Atlantic through most of the UK on Saturday/ A brisk north-easterly flow covers southern parts of England as Wales as a weakening cold front edges south into southern Scotland and Ireland.
The cold front marks the boundary of cloudier skies, and although producing a spot of rain on the hills of Scotland, Northern England and Ireland.
To the south Skies are brighter with good spells of sunshine, although areas of cloud are going to be drifting along southern coasts, perhaps producing a few showers into the afternoon as the atmosphere destabilises due to the proximity of the developing low across France.
Thundery showers may well be triggered across inland parts of England and Wales later.

SUNDAY
The ridge of high pressure hangs on across Scotland on Sunday, but the fronts across the southern half of the country tell the story of more unsettled conditions here. It is going to be breezy as well with the flow fro the northeast.
A messy situation for Sunday with more cloud for most of of the country. There will be an area of thundery rain affecting the south and southeast of England, although at the present time it is unclear how extensive this will be. It is likely that visibility will be reduced and there is the threat of some low cloud and poor visibility across southern England and the Channel.
Drier in Scotland under the high pressure, but even here there is likely to be some cloud with a few spots of rain on the hills.
