WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST

SATURDAY
High pressure ridges from off the Atlantic through most of the UK on Saturday/ A brisk north-easterly flow covers southern parts of England as Wales as a weakening cold front edges south into southern Scotland and Ireland.
The cold front marks the boundary of cloudier skies, and although producing a spot of rain on the hills of Scotland, Northern England and Ireland.
To the south Skies are brighter with good spells of sunshine, although areas of cloud are going to be drifting along southern coasts, perhaps producing a few showers into the afternoon as the atmosphere destabilises due to the proximity of the developing low across France.
Thundery showers may well be triggered across inland parts of England and Wales later.
Winds mainly N-NE 5-10kt (F2-F3) across Scotland, but NE 15-20kt (F4-F5) for much of England and Wales and 20-25kt (F6) through the Channel, with a risk of 30kt (F7) across the coasts of southeast England and northeast France.

The ridge of high pressure hangs on across Scotland on Sunday, but the fronts across the southern half of the country tell the story of more unsettled conditions here. It is going to be breezy as well with the flow fro the northeast.
A messy situation for Sunday with more cloud for most of of the country. There will be an area of thundery rain affecting the south and southeast of England, although at the present time it is unclear how extensive this will be. It is likely that visibility will be reduced and there is the threat of some low cloud and poor visibility across southern England and the Channel.
Drier in Scotland under the high pressure, but even here there is likely to be some cloud with a few spots of rain on the hills.
Overall a fairly messy situation for Sunday.
