Recently noticed a vibration at 2700 rpm, thinking it was kelp on the prop, backed down but nothing came out and vibration was stil present. Diver informed me that the prop shaft was moving (loose). Anyone had that problem and if so, what did you do to correct? Factory installed engine and saildrive with factory installed geared, folding prop, not sure of size but assume Beneteau knew what they were doing. Boat is a 2005 Beneteau First 44.7 used primarily as liveaboard and club racer, 500 hours or so on engine and saildrive. Thank you, Ron Coalson

URGENT boats powered with Yanmar 1GM10 engines

Hi, all owners with Yanmar 1 GM10 engines and probably 2GM 18 raw water cooled engines this advice is for you.
Everyone thinks that they are the only ones that Jabsco equipped engine cooling water pump impellors fail regularly!
I had a Hevenly twins fitted with brand new engines in 1991 and thought it was a problem with my particular engine installation. The Jabsco dealer just accepted it (in his interest) that impellors fail very regularly?
My next boat had an older Yanmar YSE12 engine, I was paranoid that with this impellor more difficult to reach it's failure at sea could have been a serious safety issue.
I sorted the problem out by buying and fitting a "GLOBE BLUE" impellor these are made in the USA but available in the UK and I guess anywhere in the developed world.
GlOBE BLUE impellors are direct replacements for most Jabsco style neoprene vane impellor water pumps guaranteed to be safe to run dry for up to 15 minutes, the simple secret is that in some it is one piece moulding of hard central collared plastic blending into the neoprene impellor vane, On others it still has a brass collar or ferrule but has a serated outer edge where bonded and mechanically joined to the neoprene impellor vane.
I cannot believe that boat owners OR Yanmar are still putting up with the needless stress of needing to change failed Jabsco impellors that sometimes last just a few hours, quite simply the bonding is faulty between brass and rubber.
I got here whilst trying to find the kitchen drawer slide. I don't know the mfg of it or any specs. It is fine quality and I'd like to stick with it. It's Zinc Coated I believe, and it has 12 ball bearings on each slide.

thanks for any help and feel free to visit solsurfin.com. Good for a nights sleep.

Found an ad for 41' Lagoon owners version for sale on Sailboatsforsale.com ( ad is gone now) for $200,000US.
Contacted a fellow called Ferry Ramos who sent me pics and specs.
He said his father gave hime the cat for a wedding gift.
His father had the cat shipped there by a company called Jurung Express.
I emailed the shipping co. to get a quote for shipping the cat to my island, $5,500US.
Lagoon pics and specs stolen from the Catamaran Company website shipping co. bogus.
Ferry expects a 10% deposit from buyer once a bill of lading is aquired from Jurung expess.
So $5500+$20000 goes to Ferry Ramos and no boat and no company.
Of course no one would buy or sent any money without seeing the catamaran first hand would they???
So as the old adage goes "if it seems to good to be true it probably is".
The internet scams have far reaching capabilities.
Cheers, Catman

Discrimination
This is really a blog entry for multihull owners, especially small catamaran owners.

It's a moan about the fact that many marinas charge 50% on top of the standard marina charges for multihulls.

I have a small catamaran which is not as wide as many monohulls but as a multihull I am being charged 50% on top of the standard charge, even though many monohulls are beamier than my boat.

I can fit a boat next to mine in a marina berth, so the marina is NOT losing money from my boat taking up too much space.

I am saying that there should not be any discrimination between a monohull or a multihull. If the boat in the marina berth is taking up two spaces then I can understand the extra charge but if the boat is not taking up two spaces why be charged extra?!

Marinas should work out their costs on length and beam regardless of the type of boat.

If you agree then feel free to contact me, maybe we can start a campaign. I expect monohull owners not to agree to paying extra but maybe they as beamier boats would agree that multihulls should not be penalised.

Freelance writing and their experience

I am a freelance writer, I have more than 2 years experience in freelance work. I have more than 10 years work experience in various companies and various sections. But now a day overall economy is very low, so two years back I decided to start with freelance work.

I am doing work for my existing clients as well as new clients and I am trying to keep them very happy with me so that only I can maintain my relationship. I am getting clients and projects from freelance website like www.net4manpower.com. I am one of the power members in this site. I won more than 55 projects from this site. When I started my freelance career that time I don’t know about any websites and I confused about how to get the projects? How to contact the job providers? That time my friend Mr.Johnsmith Thakal help me , he only tell about this website and tell me don’t want to pay any amount for registration and bid, Just free service and also secure payment.

First I am not have 100% hope in this site, after that I thought let we try, so I will join free with this site and bid the projects, slowly I won the projects and clients. Now many clients from www.net4manpower.com are my life long customers and still now I will not worry about the payment. They are providing me 100% payment security. But when I see this site first, I am not getting hope or confidence this site, because there design is simple and not good look. But there service is very good.

Every freelancer should be satisfying your clients then only you can get more work from us.

Freelance project biding

I’m join with project outsourcing website and submitted my profile and portfolio first, because many freelancers doing this mistake that is they are joined with freelance sites but they will not provide their overall details. But in this kind of freelance website all the clients must see the portfolio and profile first after that only they will select you. Normally I ‘m quoting affordable cost for n4mp clients, but I will not provide very cheap rate, according to my work I will offer good price. I am investing 90$ per month subscription and earn more than 500$ per month, so it is very helpful for me.

Many people they are interested in home based works but they are very lazy to submit the bid. But in my experience I am not waiting for more time for projects reply. I will get immediate response from net4manpower clients and also other freelance site.

Create online portfolio

Freelancers should be creating a virtual portfolio that is client list and samples, it is very useful to market your service to client nationally and internationally. Many free services providers are there in online to create the portfolio, so you can use this for your market.

You don't have to look hard to find freelance writing jobs; you just have to "look smart!" Make this your year to achieve your writing goals and become a published creator!!!!

The weather has been so bad here that "us cruisers" in the marina have resorted to emailing each other, rather than getting soaking wet going to each other's boats! Is the height of laziness? Or just good sense? It is difficult to get your clothes dry when it rains day after day - we have had weeks of rain without a break now. Last night the wind blew from the land and all of our boats are covered in brown sludge, even the halyards and sheets are saturated in brown dirt, which is hard to wash out. Ironically we need rain now from another direction to wash out the brown goo covering our boats!

Despite the weather we are still making ourselves do things, we go out for a meal on a Tuesday evening, there are normally about 10 of us every week, and different people manage to make it each week, which makes it interesting. The meal only costs about 6 Euros, and the food just keeps on coming, if you have a few drinks as well the whole evening costs about 10 Euros! The food is tasty too!!!

Us cruising ladies go out for a coffee morning once a week and our numbers have swelled; there are now 8 of us! We have started to go swimming after the coffee morning, the local swimming pool is like an Olympic sized swimming pool, exceptionally clean, it will give us the exercise that we need during the winter months. When the weather gets warmer there will be a weekly barbeque, they are fun too, you bring your own food and drink and throw the food on the barby, and this is a great way to meet new cruisers in the marina. Currently there are British, American, Italian, German and Portuguese sailors here - I am looking forward to meeting new people this year from other countries too!
