:help. I am tentatively planning a trip from Portsmouth across the Channel to Audierne and then on via another couple of stops in France down to the Spanish rias this summer.
Anyone fancy coming along? You would need to know what you are doing, not because I don't (although this may well be the case :)) but because there will just be the two of us and I can't stay awake 24/7 ::)
PM me if you're interested :thanks

Hello
We will be departing from North Florida for Montauk/Sag Harbor area - towards the end of May ( May 23rd tentatively)
The intention is to go outside non-stop - around 4 days.
However, stops in Charleston, Beaufort, Atlantic City are possible, and will therefore extend time indefinitely. (can disembark anytime).
Experience not necessary but positive attitude, flexibility with dates, and ability to keep watch are.
No cash necessary - and no cash paid. But must pay own travel/expenses to/from vessel (wherever that may be).
There may be a legal requirement to haul and survey before heading north - either at Ft Lauderdale or Savannah, Georgia.
Either way there are crewing possibilities.
Please message me with contact details, experience, time constraints etc., and we'll see if timing works.
cheers

Hello, and would like some opinions about a cat with hulls cored below waterline. Cat is not made anymore, the literature states its construction is FRP, isopthalic resins, and kledgecell coring. not sure if this indicates coring below Waterline but owners suspect so.
Question is, is this still concern if no moisture exists during survey.

Hello all. This is my first post. I have found this forum in duress looking for information I need promptly.

But I feel it is rude to post without introducing myself. Please forgive me. My name is John, and I have a Catalac 9m I am almost done refitting to a point where it is cruiseable

But I have discovered a crack in my port stern tube/ shaft log, and am looking for info on dimensions of it, and or where to procure one. I'd like to know if I can find one before I pull it out of the water, but to find out exactly what I need, I need to pull it out of the water to look at it. Quite a pickle. SO.... help. :o

Hooray! Just a quick chortle. Today we saw a record high on our solar output:

51 amps off a 630 watt capacity. (We have 3 x 210 watt Sanyo units.)

Normal highs are around 45 amps.

That the Honda portable generator still isn't working, hasn't been a problem during this cruising season with solar and wind keeping us tootling along just dandy. Come the hurricane season, it might not be such a sunny picture (sorry) - but by then we hope to have the Honda EU20i operating again.

Worth mentioning, perhaps, that after reliability problems with Blue Sky, we switched to TriStar (made by Morning Star) and have never looked back.

(Ah, but what madness is this - Murphy might be listening. So pretend I didn't say that.)

I had an Icom VHF M603 fitted to my boat but found to my surprise I could not get the USA channels and that it was the international version. The USA version cannot get international channels but the UK version can switch to either. Theyt are all the same - its just what they are told they fare that changes them. So ll that is needed is for a dealer to plug in the computer and tell it that it is a UK model - that is what I had done and it cost $120 for the few minutes work

So if you ever plan to cruise the USA and internationally buy a UK model!!!
