Default Welcome to our New 'Mulltihullers' Forum

This new forum has been created to provide you with a much improved service and a growing list of options based upon a solid platform. It is based on a news servers with lots of bandwidth for a speedy response.

Many of you will be familiar with the workings of this popular forum software.

I am very opposed to tight moderation/censorship - here you are free to criticise in public admin decisions. This does not mean that a free for all of abuse is allowed but you are allowed to fully debate any subject without the constant threat of thread closure. If anyone justly complains about a sustained abuse attack on them the abuser will receive a one week ban so that they can calm down.

    This forum features:-
    • A Links Library - you can add links at anytime. Its a permananet and growing reference for us all.

    • A Review Database - here you may add your own reviews of any product or service - ask questions of any review or add further reviews to the same product
You may also post hints and tips to help form a hints and tips database that anyone can view anytime.

    • Your Own Blog - every member can just click on blogs and have their own blog - no setting up, it there for you.

    • A Classified Adverts System and its free to use for trade or individual. You can advertise for crew, your boat Its free or any boating related product or service

    • Advanced Layout Opening Posts - you can place images within the text and form an opening post just like an article.

    • Private Blogs & Social Groups - you can form private blogs and transfer files etc between members that you invite to see your blog. You can also form private social groups open only to those you invite in. Thus small groups of crusisng boats can have their own private discussions.

All of this is all aimed at multihulls and their owners - so every resource is only based on what is of interest to 'multihullers'. You need not own a boat to join - those who share the dream or have any interest in it are more than welcome.

We treat all members as adults and so the moderation is very, very light.

So here you can mention any links to any sites including competing forums

    Please enjoy.

You've done a terrific job with the software. I'm very impressed.

I will check in daily, as a moderator free zone does have some appeal.

Aside from the lack of crap that infests CF - some of the things Paul is doing are extremely positive like the reviews etc. Th key will be the critical mass of users that we need to see to make the board self sustaining.

    Spot on.

I have first of all concentrated on getting a good central system up offering a package of services. I guess it will be another 2 weeks before all the systems are fully up but after that the key is getting that critical mass.

There are not that many active posters on the CF multihulls and the membership numbers are not always what they appear to be. I think we need to get a few hundred posters to give this forum critical mass.

So if everyone could just mention it to any 'multihuller's they know, it all helps.

So far the have been many attempts with spam memberships etc but all that had been dealt with and enough protection put up to put a stop to most of it - if I had just banned them then the membership count would over 100 because even though I am no longer a member of CF I still count on their counter.

To me, even more important than the facilities offered on the site is the feeling that its a place you can relax a bit in what you say without a feeling of being controlled.

Yes its nice to see the 100th member and I look forward to all members emailing their multihull friends and telling them about the site.

I intend to launch the new e-magazine when we reach 200 members.

Above all this site is here to serve the multihull community and the number 1 priority will always be just that - what is best for the members. This is why we are so open and treat members as responsible adults.

The site is only as strong as the quality of its members and its great to see the different style that has been adopted in the posts .... simply great

There will be a half a page on the site in the Dec/Jan Edition of the australian multihull world magazine, that should give it a kick a long as well.

    Default How wrong was I?

Here I was thinking that it would take a couple of years to even get 50 members.

I suspect it may be that the "other forum" now exposed as a blatant marketing mouthpiece for one particular vendor of fabulously (ahem! ) ultra light Cats that has driven us away.

Its great to see a project do well. Well done Paul. Keep up the good work.

Whilst this forum was set up as a reaction to over moderation and blatant biased actions elsewhere, I now intend to use it as a base platform to introduce some of my long therm plans. So the site will develop but will always treat members and their interests as king. That is a promise

I am pleased with the membership and the way it is growing. It is going to be an interesting future.

Welcome - we hope you have a good look around and not just the forums but the growing links library where instead of a thread which disappears with time you have a links database- there are well over 40 blogs in the multihull blog section.

You can post adverts in the classified and post reviews of a product, service or even a good tip in the review section.

You also already gave your own blog - just click on blogs and start posting.

However its the members that are the real attraction here - you c an see that from the quality of the the threads.

Links to other forums are not allowed on CF! OMG.
Cannot understand how that got past socialist Gord May and others.
    Someone needs to be banned.

    Welcome

Ha ha! Yes it was cleverly disguised in the thread on multihull blogs, and the link also had an extra "l" in the web address, but I figured it out and ---- Here I am!

Just so you know, we basically have a total freedom of information on this site.

We actually think we are dealing with adults and so our moderation .... well it only for extreme cases and has never been used ... so far anyway. Our view is that members themselves can normally sort out any wayward members.

Next - we accept that other exist and so we have no censorship banning other sites, links etc etc. You can mention what you like when you like because its silly to have to talk around things - its much easier just to say it. So its OK to post links to anywhere.

If I mess things up you are also welcome to say so in public - I am not perfect and I am learning all the time.

Those are the basic rules or lack of them

Is it possible to add the data on own boat, so when you look at a post, you can see what sort of boat they are talking about.
