    Default Trident Insurance,

Well as you all know, My little Gemini got washed up on a beach and got holed in both hulls,

Trident Insurance have written off my Gemini as as a Constructive Total Loss,

I have bought my Vessel back from the Insurers and will now transport it by truck to Melbourne Victoria from NSW.

When I first got wrecked, Trident were on the ball and had some one out to inspect my Boat the next day, 12 Miles off the coast on Broughton Island,

They salvaged the boat within a week, Floated it back to Port Stephens on inflatable bags,

I have nothing but good words to say about Trident insurance, and my Broker that got me the insurance in the first place,

They have been most helpfull, Even giving advice to me,
As I didnt have a clue on how to go about claiming insurance or salvage or other things I needed to know about Getting my boat back to a safe Hardstand at the Marina,

Now, to get it back to Melbourne by truck to Repair my little Gemini, and make it better than new again,

Trident Insurance Company, Mt Hawthorn, Perth. Australia,

PSC Coast Wide Insurance Brokers, Bundall, Brisbane, Queensland. Australia,

$1400-00 approx per year, and $200-00 extra for Blue water, which I did not have as I was in Coastal waters, less than 200 miles off shore,

    Cheers,
    Brian,

    Well done.

Nice to hear good reports of insurers.

I hope that the settlement is enough to buy her back, get her moved and then repaired.

It would be very interesting to see any pictures when/if you have the chance please.

Nothing works on an old boat, except the skipper.

I agree. It's good to hear of an insurer that you get great service from in your hour of need

I hope the road transport and repairs go well. Out of interest, what time scale do you have for the repair work?

I was wondering what happened to your cat and PM ed you. and here it is
So just how much did you buy the : wrecked Gemini 105Mc for $ ?

It still sucks that you lost your summer with this ordeal. Do you have to do the fixes to Aus standards ?

Just think it snowed 2 inches last night on our cat, waiting for spring :

I had an agreed value on the boat, So I will have enough to transport and repair my boat and a bit left over, So all's good on that front,

Repairs should all be completed to seaworthy and Blue water capable again within six months,

Winters coming on and fiberglass does not work well in cold weather,
I will get a professional fiberglasser to do the work.

Any company does good things by me, I will advertise and recommend them for all to know,

There are too many Shonkys around, and its best to advertise them as well, so no one gets caught by them either,

Yes, It has to be brought up to Aussie standards, Shipping Survey,

Which because of the oceans we have here are a much higher standard than USA or Europe,

$15,000-00 AUD for wreck, $10,000-00 for transport, Total Repair bill, $80,000-00

I still have a cheap lovely boat compared to Aussie prices,

I decided to put up a thread instead of the PM to you, Hope you dont mind,

I will put up piccys as I get them.

Dont like that snow thingy you get, We just get the extremely wet cold, Minus 5 C,

Good you have a plan on getting back on the water

Have you built your own trailor ? Some folks have used the frame and wheels from moble homes at just under 13 ft wide and can be pulled by a one ton truck with wide load permits.

Too much frigging around to do it myself, So I am getting a Boat moving trucking company to move it for me,

Some times the Professional workers come out a lot cheaper and shorter in time factors than DIY's.

They can get it here quicker than I can, Its a reasonable price,
    Moving a Boat, 700 miles,

If the insurance payout is quick. My boat will be home within a month and I can start work on it,

Untill I got the information on what the insurance company were going to do with my boat,
I was in a sort of Limbo, I could not plan or do any thing for my future,

Almost 3 months sitting on my hands, YAAARRRGGGG.

Good to hear Trident looked after you, unfortunately they have decided to change their mind and will not offer a policy in the NW of Australia on a swing mooring. Nearly 3 weeks and still no insurance. However I have received another quote from Royal & Sun Alliance hopefully this quote will end up in turning into a policy.

I will be there to pick up all my boat bits and get my boat on a truck back to Melbourne as soon as the insurance settles the claim,

    Next week or two, Hopefully.

Heres the latest on my Gemini,

The insurance has stopped paying for the hardstand as of today the 16th March and I now own my Gemini again, I am paying for it again,

The full amount, Agreed Value, will be in my bank today or Monday.

I am currently organising to get Noakes Marina to dismast and take the sails down on my boat,

Then I can truck it to Melbourne where a hard stand and a fibreglasser are waiting for it, to arrive,

    Have truck also organised,

    Whoo Whoo.

Thanks to Trident Insurance, Been more than helpfull right through the whole thing,
    Use them again, You betcha,

    Cheers,
    Brian.

At least they did come through with it, with out any hassels of any kind,

Very helpfull. and on the ball to start with and to salvage my boat within the week was excellent , I thought,

One month of it was waiting for the Xmas break here to finish,

Plus they couldnt get any one to quote the electrics, Just wiring, not electronics,

    Its Definately, GO TRIDENT.

Here's the lastest on my Gemini Saga,

Trident have paid me out in full, Yeah,

They took out the cost of buying my boat back, and $1000-00 AUD for the excess,

So my boat cost me to buy back, $16,000-00 AUD, Full Total Cost,

Another Bonus from Trident, they paid the Hard stand up to the date I picked it up with the truck,

    This Company is unbelievable,

The boat is currently on the back of a truck headed for Melbourne,

It has a nice new home at Yaringa, Where it will be rebuilt better than new.
