Question Actual Costs fro Lagoon 40-45 foot owners

I need some help, can anyone that has a Lagoon Cat in the 40-45 feet length give me an estimate of your initial and annual costs?

Sadly doing the math I am starting to get more and more convinced a cat is not in my future but before I close the door on my dream I want to get some real advice.

This is a for a 2003 35′ Wildcat Catamaran (used) but might still help you plan. These folks kept accurate and complete expenditure records for a about three years.

Interesting blog, one of the few that went from cat to mono.

    The verdict is pretty conclusive.

Interesting and beautifully written. This guy should write a book (maybe it's on the way?)

Check out the blog. You can order both of Pat's books thru Amazon. And for shits and giggles, search Bumfuzzle on Cruisers Forum. The is plenty of nastiness there towards Pat and Ali and their attitude towards just getting on with going cruising.

Have you read the blog? Start at the beginning. It is addicting.

    Peter, what was the verdict?

I have just re-read these again and it seems to me he is completely ambivalent about it overall. There were good things both ways.

Seems to me he tries hard to weigh the pros and cons but ultimately concludes it's 'no contest' on the basis of comfort, as follows:

"Letís face facts though. The catamaran is more stable by a factor of ten thousand to one (note: must check source on this statistic). And thatís really about the only thing that has to be said. It has other factors in itís favor of course, but when it comes to picking a cruising boat there really is nothing as important as comfort. Nothing in my mind contributes more to the enjoyment and success of long-range long-term cruising than a stable platform."
