    Default 9M mast lowering pole

Does anyone either have a 9M mast lowering pole they don't want or one that we can look at with a veiw to having one made. We are currently in the Chichester/Emsworth area so someone nearby wouuld be great. An alternative would be full dimensional information. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Mr Maz,

Sorry for the slow response, been a bit busy...
Seems like nobody else replied yet either... I'm not in the UK & my lowering pole is on my 8M so can't measure anything right now anyway but:

On his website Rick lists "The mast lowering pole is steel, 2" in diameter thick wall tubing, 8 FEET long with a 6 inch stainless steel tip. It weighs around 25 lbs."

    Hi Djeeke,

Thanks for your reply and info re the lowering pole. If someone has one to look at then that would be great.

    Hello David,

You're welcome, hopefully one of the UK Catalac owners wakes up as a trip to Brussels just to look at my 8M mast lowering pole sounds overkill

I haven't seen one for a while, but it is basically a scaffold pole with a welded in probe and two eyes at the other end.

It is important that you have the wooden crutch rigged at the stern for the mast to lie in, as otherwise it puts too much load on the roof of the canopy.

It is also important that the shrouds be slacked to the very limit of their adjustment.

I used to bring the tail of the tackle attached to the bottom of the pole, back to one of the genoa winches (which had been upgraded to Lewmar 30ST), This allowed much better control and made hoisting much easier as well. Frequently raised and lowered mast by myself.

I also drilled a hole in the tabernackle at the back of the pole slot so once the mast had been raised (and held in position by a big G cramp) Icould then bolt through the slot and hold the mast rigidly to the tabernacle.
Insanity is continuing to do the same thing and expecting different results
