I'm a little confused, the video seems to show steering stations either left, right or on top.

These all options or spliced in video of older models?

The live shots are other existing models. The animations are the new model. I heard about it recently, and they are hoping to have the first one ready for Annapolis in October, so dont expect any live pictures soon.

I like what I see, hopefully they will have a little more bridge deck clearance, and some focus on better performance. Time will tell.

Looks like a bigger version of the Lagoon 400 - not surprising really!!!

She does seem very heavy (25.5t claimed weight) for a 45ft boat. Lagoon seemed to have bumped up the sail area so it will be interesting to see how she performs.

After a search, it seems a little short on reviews for the 450. I know it's early, and only a few hulls have been produced, but I am very eager to see some real reviews on the 450. As I am very familiar with the 440 having chartered it 4 times, I would be particularly interested to know the differences ("improvements") between the 440 and the 450. Anyone?

Saw it at the Annapolis show! In a word: Fantastic. It had over 35 people onboard and the stern platforms were way out of the water, not underwater like so many cats. I didn't however like their use of blond wood laminates throughout the vessel. The cockpit is much larger now.
and there is a lounge/suntan area forward of the flybridge.

I cannot get my head around the very high boom and the exposed helm station. Maybe in certain climates it would be stunning, but I would not want to try and get that mainsail down and packed away in a gale if something is going wrong. I reckon it would be very dangerous. In the right climate I am sure the sun beds and that area will be great. How is the view to the back of the boat from the helm if you dock stern to? The boat also seems very heavy for a 45ft boat with stated weight of 15 tons. The actual weight is often way higher than claimed by the manufacturer. I guess it is a very big 45 ft boat. What are owners experiences with lagoons, how does the claimed weight of your boats compare with the actual when you take it out of the water?

The fully loaded displacement is said to be over 45,000 lbs

With that said i was really surprised by how well it sailed. It definitely did not accelerate quickly, but still we easily did 5.5 knots in 8.5 knots of true wind at 38 degrees apparent. Not shabby for such a heavy boat. We also had fixed props. It also steered much quicker than I would have thought.

Visibility to all corners was great. The boom was too high without any way to climb up and deal with problems.

I suppose some people will love the design.

But for me, the exposed rear of the cockpit, and the high steering position are not the design of a serious blue water boat.

I had a chance to sail on the Lagoon 450 right after the Annapolis boat show. Definitely agree with the positives about the flybridge. Once you have it, it is difficult for me to go back and look at the Leopards and others that only have a small raised control platform.

As for the boom height, the reality is that it is quite unlikely you'll need to get up there on the passage. During our six months in the Bahamas, we only tacked a handful of times, and rarely needs to access the foot of the sail for maintenance. So in that case, it is safer to have the boom remain high.

They made a few specific changes from the 440 - most important are the stairs going up to the flybridge from the aft cockpit, the ventilation hatch over the aft cockpit, and, I believe, added the forward lounging area adjacent to the mast.

Anyway, we posted a bunch of pictures and our thoughts on our blog.

I looked at one at the Grand-Mott boat show and it is a HUGE cat (bulky and heavy) but then it is perfect for my needs. I think it will appeal to all of us that want a floating condo that we can move from one great location to another. Yes she can sail but the main buyers of the 450 are people looking for comfort and luxury at an affordable cost 1/3 less than the Privilidge when all said and done

I really liked the 450 and it is in the top 3 for me Dean 5000 and Salena 48 are the 2 other options.
